Local POP Access
For school districts which get EIS directly from Anchorage, SchoolAccess may be able to offer Local POP Access to the local GCI Internet POP.
Many districts would like students, employees, parents, and/or community members to have access to services or applications on the local school network. These may be student information services, grades, homework, email access, curriculum web sites, or others.
By default, a parent in a community would have to access the school's services and applications from their home Internet access, to Anchorage, and then into the school/district network. This may include one or two satellite links and the associated delay.
Local POP Access provides direct access to the school/district network via the local GCI Internet POP. Service is provisioned with local DTS (school to POP), local Internet bandwidth (in the POP), and some level of access control.
