Education Network Overview
Ten years ago, GCI created SchoolAccess to provide bandwidth to schools in rural and underserved areas. Today, GCI SchoolAccess has grown in-step with our customers’ needs to deliver a comprehensive education network that encompasses much more than just bandwidth.
Today, GCI continues investing more in digital transmission services (e.g. fiber optics, satellites, and routing technology) than any other rural education service provider. Our goal is to provide an education network that is ready and reliable for every class and every meeting. Our success is demonstrated everyday at the more than 125 schools in traditionally underserved communities who trust us to deliver the latest tools to support 21st century learning.
Our approach to building strong education networks focuses on three critical elements:
- Solid Technical Infrastructure: The backbone of GCI SchoolAccess is found in the reliability and flexibility of the network infrastructure, providing customers consistent, quality digital transmission services. Reliable connectivity keeps the focus on educational experiences, not technical inconveniences.
- Comprehensive Support Services: GCI SchoolAccess provides exemplary support services to all our customers. Through our 24/7 education-specific service desk, customer network control center, and video support center, we proactively monitor and manage the education network so schools can focus critical resources on their most important missions.
- Appropriate Education Resources: The power of our network is in what students and teachers can do with the network, not just the presence of the technical network itself. As an active member of the education community, we’re constantly expanding the breadth and depth of our education resources, which we then provide our customers throughout the network.
