GCI SchoolAccess to Stream the Alaska Military Youth Academy Graduation

Alaska Military Youth Academy graduationOn August 28, 2009, GCI SchoolAccess broadcasted the Alaska Military Youth Academy (AMYA) graduation ceremony live over the Internet. The AMYA is an accredited special purpose school that runs several programs designed to help Alaskan youth make positive life changes. As evidenced by their vision statement, "To have a significant positive impact upon the future of the at-risk youth of Alaska", the AMYA helps Alaskan youth overcome adversity and graduation is a significant moment in their lives.

The AYMA first came to GCI SchoolAccess in the beginning of 2009 asking if they could stream the graduation ceremony from Fort Richardson. Because students come from all over the state, many families cannot afford to make the trip to Anchorage, especially in today's difficult economic times. The February graduation webcast ended up being such a success that AMYA asked if GCI would steam their next graduation from Anchorage.
